The opportunity for Ukranian civilians to apply for study scholarship (140 EUR/month) and research fellowship (900 EUR/month) is available till the end of this year (2023).
Since the beginning of March 2022 till June 2023, 139 study scholarships and 44 research fellowships have been granted by Latvian state to Ukrainian civilians.
Ukrainian students and researchers who, due to the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, were forced to flee to Latvia for security reasons will be able to continue their studies and research in Latvia with opportunity to receive scholarships and paid internships.
Ukrainian students of all study levels enrolled in Latvian public or private higher education institutions (including colleges) can receive a scholarship in the amount of 140 euros per month from the day of enrolment until the end of 2023.
In solidarity with the academic community of Ukraine, Latvian higher education and scientific institutions included in the Register of Scientific Institutions may offer internships to Ukrainian researchers at their institution. If the institution offers an internship (without remuneration) to Ukrainian researchers, the state will provide a research fellowship for scientific and academic work of 900 euros per month until the end of 2023.
Applications for state support mechanism for the Civilians of Ukraine should be submitted through Latvian higher education and scientific institutions. Individual applications will not be accepted.
The scholarship fund is administered by the State Education Development Agency.
