|Study arrangements||During studies international students join groups of local students that follow the program in Russian and study according to an individual plan in English. |Study programme description||The programme crosses the basic areas of physics, electronics, mathematics, software focusing on a wide range of practical applications in such areas as radio electronic and telecommunications systems, computer systems and networks, transport telematics systems. Main objective of the programme is to train future professionals with good knowledge and skills in telecommunications and electronics, as well as in the area of computer science and network technologies. The main directions of the study programme are:
• Types of Computer Networks (Local Area Network, Metropolitan Area Network, Wide Area Network, Global Area Network, Virtual Private Network)
• Hardware Components of Networks
• Network Topologies and Network Design
• Standards, Protocols and Network Technologies
• Mobile and Wireless Networks
• Maintenance of Telecommunication Equipment and Computer Networks
• Digital Signal Processing in Telecommunications
• Methods of Analysis and Design of Telecommunication Systems
• Information Encoding, Transmission and Protection
• Methods and Tools of the Applied Software Development and others.
After the second year a student has an opportunity to receive a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) from Cisco NetAcademy participating in this programme.

|Requirements||General Certificate of Secondary or Higher education.
It is desirable to have 5.5 IELTS (TOEFL 550) for studies in English, but certificate is not obligatory.
The 1st year students (after arrival to the Institute) will be tested in physics and mathematics for determining the level of their knowledge and correction of study programme.
Transport and Telecommunication Institute is the largest university-type accredited non-state technical higher educational establishment in Latvia. Main academic activities: higher education, training courses, vocational training.
Main research activities: optimization and modelling of transport systems, logistics, navigation satellite systems, air traffic control systems, telecommunication, transport telematics, applications of information technologies, business re-engineering.
