|Study programme description||The French Philology programme offers simultaneous studies of two Romanic and German languages. The goal of the programme is to prepare multi competence specialists, who not only have a good command of two Romance languages but also know the history, geography, culture, economics, and politics of the countries of the respective language.
The study programme offers language studies (French-Spanish, French-Italian, and French-German), the studies of the specific areal, courses for professional purposes (translation, business language, language teaching methodology), basics of economics and law, diplomacy, politics, academic studies and research.
After successful completion of the programme, graduates may pursue further studies in the Master’s degree program ‘Romance Languages and Culture’ or any other relevant programme. The graduates can work as translators, assistant managers etc. in government or private institutions in Latvia and abroad where knowledge of Romance language and history, geography, culture, economics and politics and diplomacy of the countries are required.

Accommodation possibilities and costs: The University of Latvia offers university dormitories for all international students. International students are housed in single, double or triple rooms with a common kitchen for every 5 rooms. Linen, blankets and pillows are provided as well as some kitchen utensils. The costs start at 100 EUR per month (more information here).
If you do not wish to stay at a dormitory, it is advisable to make private housing arrangements beforehand.
