Study arrangements		During studies international students join groups of local students that follow the study program in English. International students are offered a Latvian language course (4,5 ECTS) in the framework of the study program.

Study programme description		Business Informatics is about empowering enterprises by utilizing advantages of existing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions, creating and introducing new ICT solutions corresponding to ever changing needs of the enterprises. The study programme welcomes students who are interested in systemic, integrated view on business and ICT. The aim of the study programme Business Informatics is to prepare professionals who master systems thinking and engineering sciences; who are able to use, choose, develop, and acquire ICT solutions that enable enterprise development; who can design intra- and inter-organizational information systems; and are capable of participating in corresponding inter-disciplinary and international projects.

Riga Technical University (RTU) is the oldest university in Latvia, and it has long-standing traditions dating back to 1862. It is an accredited, fully state owned, internationally recognized European level university. According to the requirements of the European Space for Higher Education, RTU offers academic and professional study programmes at three levels – bachelor, master and doctoral studies. RTU is the only engineering university providing engineering programmes and business studies in Latvia. At present it is one of the largest technical universities in the Baltic Sea region and gathers nearly 16 000 students at eight faculties in various study programmes.

RTU has a leading role in number of research projects financed by the EU. Among university alumni there are presidents, prime-ministers and ministers of several European countries, key figures in Latvia’s business and industry. All European countries according to the Lisbon Convention recognize the diplomas issued by the Riga Technical University, on Recognition of Qualification Concerning Higher Education in the European Region, signed in April 1997. RTU degrees are also recognized in the United States, Canada, India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Nepal, Cameroon, Nigeria and other countries. In 2002 several of RTU engineering programs were approved by United States, Department of Veteran Affairs as eligible for «G. I. Bill» financial benefits.
