|Study programme description||The aim of this study programme is to enable professionals to master systems thinking and engineering sciences and to be able to use, choose, develop and acquire information and communication technology (ICT) solutions that enable enterprise development. Moreover, it is aimed at ensuring that graduates of the
programme can design intra- and inter-organisational information systems and are capable of participating in corresponding interdisciplinary and international projects. The study programme is designed according to the best European practice in business informatics programmes, global and regional industry trends.
Studies are organised in the form of lectures, seminars, project works and discussion groups.
Graduates are qualified to fulfil a range of positions including business architect, information architect, information systems architect, information engineer information systems engineer, systems analyst and designer, business process analyst, engineer, and manager, business analyst, risk manager, requirements engineer, chief information officer, IS manager, business and IT consultant.

Riga Technical University (RTU) is the oldest university in Latvia, and it has long-standing traditions dating back to 1862. It is an accredited, fully state owned, internationally recognized European level university. According to the requirements of the European Space for Higher Education, RTU offers academic and professional study programmes at three levels – bachelor, master and doctoral studies. RTU is the only engineering university providing engineering programmes and business studies in Latvia. At present it is one of the largest technical universities in the Baltic Sea region and gathers nearly 16 000 students at eight faculties in various study programmes.
RTU has a leading role in number of research projects financed by the EU. Among university alumni there are presidents, prime-ministers and ministers of several European countries, key figures in Latvia’s business and industry. All European countries according to the Lisbon Convention recognize the diplomas issued by the Riga Technical University, on Recognition of Qualification Concerning Higher Education in the European Region, signed in April 1997. RTU degrees are also recognized in the United States, Canada, India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Nepal, Cameroon, Nigeria and other countries. In 2002 several of RTU engineering programs were approved by United States, Department of Veteran Affairs as eligible for «G. I. Bill» financial benefits.
