|Study programme description||The Bachelor study programme provides fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of aviation through the use of laboratories, test benches and exercise equipment. The acquired knowledge and practical skills conform to the demands of European aviation companies.
Studies are organised in the form of lectures, seminars, project works and discussion groups.
The main fields of research at AERTI are technical diagnostics and non-destructive methods of control, research on composite materials used for aviation construction, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), engineering and design.
Aircraft technical maintenance and operation engineer mechanics or avionics engineers perform technical operations, maintenance and repairs in a variety of organisations that use aircraft. AERTI graduates hold leading positions in airlines, aviation companies and air transport establishments all over the world. Some even are famous aviators and astronauts. Graduates of the study programme can successfully work in the aircraft industry, aviation research organisations and space centres.

Riga Technical University (RTU) is the oldest university in Latvia, and it has long-standing traditions dating back to 1862. It is an accredited, fully state owned, internationally recognized European level university. According to the requirements of the European Space for Higher Education, RTU offers academic and professional study programmes at three levels – bachelor, master and doctoral studies. RTU is the only engineering university providing engineering programmes and business studies in Latvia. At present it is one of the largest technical universities in the Baltic Sea region and gathers nearly 16 000 students at eight faculties in various study programmes.
RTU has a leading role in number of research projects financed by the EU. Among university alumni there are presidents, prime-ministers and ministers of several European countries, key figures in Latvia’s business and industry. All European countries according to the Lisbon Convention recognize the diplomas issued by the Riga Technical University, on Recognition of Qualification Concerning Higher Education in the European Region, signed in April 1997. RTU degrees are also recognized in the United States, Canada, India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Nepal, Cameroon, Nigeria and other countries. In 2002 several of RTU engineering programs were approved by United States, Department of Veteran Affairs as eligible for «G. I. Bill» financial benefits.
