|Study programme description||The programme aims to prepare highly qualified professional musicians and choreographers, required by the State and the society - performing artists, conductors,
vocalists, composers, music teachers and choreographers. Students in the addition to the competencies of professional bachelor in the field of music or choreography, also acquire applicable knowledge that is based on the theory of music or choreography sciences. The main tasks of the programme are to provide content of study courses according to the higher level of studies, ensuring optimal conditions for the development of individual creativity and research abilities.
Highly qualified musicians and choreographers are motivated to acquire knowledge and skills required for academic and professional work in the field of music or choreography. During studies, students gain in-depth knowledge and skills in the scientific research in music, music education or choreography. They acquire information on the latest achievements in theory, education and psychology within unified European educational environment, and to undertake further education activities. The graduates of this programme are usually employed in professional orchestras and ballets, music and dance schools, music and dance ensembles - various artistic activities within music or dance fields, as well as interdisciplinary projects organised by culture institutions.

Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music provides professional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and academic postgraduate programmes in music performance, conducting, composition, music science, music pedagogy and choreography. Doctoral level studies are available in the field of history and theory of music. Scientific research and artistic creativity are the cornerstones of all professional and academic study programmes.
The main goals of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music are to provide studies of exceptional quality in subjects of music, choreography and education sciences, humanitarian and social sciences; to conduct research projects in arts sciences; to encourage artistic creativity of the young musicians.
