|Study programme description||The aim of the study programme is to provide students with a solid base of anthropological knowledge and research skills upon which to build in their later academic or professional career.
Studies are organised in the form of interactive and student-centered studies. Part of the studies is organized via e-learning system leaving space for seminars, group and individual work and discussions.
Main study courses offered include both the main themes in anthropological theory, economic and political anthropology, as well as anthropology of gender and religion, and thus helps students to develop critical thinking and interdisciplinary analysis skills. The programme is mostly orientated towards public anthropology , but students are encouraged to develop and explore their own research topics with the support of experienced supervisors within our department.
Students in this programme acquire skills of recalling and awareness of core anthropological approaches, theories and concepts according to the programme curriculum and their pathway through it; understanding implications and limitations of data and its interpretation; producing written and spoken communication relevant to the context, whether academic or public; assessing ethical challenges and find adequate solutions, etc.

Accommodation possibilities and costs: The University of Latvia offers university dormitories for all international students. International students are housed in single, double or triple rooms with a common kitchen for every 5 rooms. Linen, blankets and pillows are provided as well as some kitchen utensils. The costs start at 100 EUR per month (more information here).
If you do not wish to stay at a dormitory, it is advisable to make private housing arrangements beforehand.
