Study programme description		The Master study programme will provide students with the practical applied knowledge and additional values needed to succeed in this area. The aim of the course is to educate future company financial managers and finance investment administration specialists in order to solve financial problems and make decisions in today’s ever-changing business environment. Two specialties - financial management and finance economics - are available for students studying in Business Finances. Studies are organised in the form of lectures, seminars, project works and discussion groups. Graduates of the study programme Business Finance have a variety of job opportunities in government, financial services, public accounting, or business advisory and private companies. They are able to continue their career as specialists in business finance management, research, work in financial resource management in different companies and finance investment management in the field of financial services. Moreover, a specialist in business finances can work for a public accounting or consulting company, a governmental agency or a business entity.

Riga Technical University (RTU) is the oldest university in Latvia, and it has long-standing traditions dating back to 1862. It is an accredited, fully state owned, internationally recognized European level university. According to the requirements of the European Space for Higher Education, RTU offers academic and professional study programmes at three levels – bachelor, master and doctoral studies. RTU is the only engineering university providing engineering programmes and business studies in Latvia. At present it is one of the largest technical universities in the Baltic Sea region and gathers nearly 16 000 students at eight faculties in various study programmes.

RTU has a leading role in number of research projects financed by the EU. Among university alumni there are presidents, prime-ministers and ministers of several European countries, key figures in Latvia’s business and industry. All European countries according to the Lisbon Convention recognize the diplomas issued by the Riga Technical University, on Recognition of Qualification Concerning Higher Education in the European Region, signed in April 1997. RTU degrees are also recognized in the United States, Canada, India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Nepal, Cameroon, Nigeria and other countries. In 2002 several of RTU engineering programs were approved by United States, Department of Veteran Affairs as eligible for «G. I. Bill» financial benefits.
