Study arrangements		International students study in English in special groups formed for international students. Latvian language is taught in the framework of study program as a compulsory course.

Study programme description		The aim of the study programme is to provide students with the knowlledge about biochemical processes in the human body, changes in the event of diseases, the epidemiology of the most common diseases in Latvia, their aetiology and principles of treatment as well as drug pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, metabolism and interaction. Studies are organised in lectures, seminars, discussions, group and individual projects and presentations. Main courses offered include basic subjects like chemistry, medicine, pharmacy, which include compulsory and elective courses. In the 5th year students spend six months in placement, working in a pharmacy, during which students deepen their theoretical knowledge, and acquire skills for their future work. Students in this programme acquire the skills of pharmaceutical care and the implementation methods of drug output, analysis and value assessment as well as knowledge of the principles and methods of drug preparation in pharmacies and drug production enterprises. The graduates of this programme are usually employed in pharmacies and laboratories, as sales representatives in various pharmaceutical and medical companies.

Requirements		Minimum age - 18. Maximum age is not limited. All international applicants are expected to have completed their upper secondary education including 2 semesters of Chemistry and must be eligible for higher education studies in their home country. Certificate of the English language proficiency is required.
