Study programme description		The doctoral study program Education management has been developed with the aim for the doctoral student to acquire knowledge and skills that would give him/her the possibility to work out the research independently and complete it with obtaining scientifically original results that had been proved in practice in the field of education management thus confirming one’s competence in performing, organizing and managing the research. The doctoral scientific degree is awarded for the doctoral thesis – original, independently carried out scientific work which can be assessed as a significant contribution to the development of the education management and the improvement of the education system in Latvia. The doctoral thesis may have the following 3 forms: dissertation, the set of thematically unified scientific publications, monograph. The language of the doctoral thesis is Latvian or English.

The University of Latvia is the largest higher education institution in Latvia, and the richest in traditions. The University offers more than 150 state-accredited academic and professional study programmes: you can obtain an academic bachelor’s or master’s degree in humanities, pedagogy, social sciences, sciences, and health sciences. Accommodation possibilities and costs: The University of Latvia offers university dormitories for all international students. International students are housed in single, double or tripple rooms with a common kitchen for every 5 rooms. Linen, blankets and pillows are provided as well as some kitchen utensils. The payment for the dormitory is starting at 60 Ls (85 EUR, 114 USD) per month (more information here).
If you do not wish to stay at a dormitory, it is advisable to make private housing arrangements beforehand.
