|Study programme description||Doctoral study programme in geology is serving courses in three major fields in geology — bedrock geology, quaternary geology and geomorphology, and applied geology. The study programme is based on the integrated approach to reach the general aim of the Curriculum - to raise the level of doctoral learning and skills expected of specialty professionals and that are recognized in the international research area. The principal components of quality research-based education are state-of-the-art knowledge in their specializations, research skills, a comprehensive scientific worldview and competence in development work, management and teaching. The goal of the doctoral studies is to obtain a doctoral degree and to educate competitive highly qualified specialists who take part in international academic circulation for academic work at universities and other higher educational establishments, as well as for research and organising work in public or private institutions.|

Accommodation possibilities and costs: The University of Latvia offers university dormitories for all international students. International students are housed in single, double or triple rooms with a common kitchen for every 5 rooms. Linen, blankets and pillows are provided as well as some kitchen utensils. The costs start at 100 EUR per month (more information here).
If you do not wish to stay at a dormitory, it is advisable to make private housing arrangements beforehand.
