|Study programme description||The main aim of the study programme is to give knowledge corresponding to regional economics, finance and credit. It aims to to give optimal conditions for doctoral students’ research, have practical training in conducting scientific research and teaching in a higher education establishment; promote the introduction of the latest findings and theories in economics.
Studies include such studying forms as lectures, seminars, project work, individual work, etc. Main courses offered include: topical scientific theories and findings in economics; research methodology and contemporary research methods in the economics branch; regional economics sub-branches of, finance and credit; terminology of economics; publishing the researches publications in journals and collections; participate in annual Doctoral students’ scientific conferences. Graduated students will be able to do the following: solve problems of economics; take responsibility and initiative when working individually or in a team. The students will be able to have an impact on the environment and society and participate in the development of the fields of economics.

Daugavpils University (DU) was founded in 1921 and today is the biggest regional state university and the only university in Eatern-Latvia. DU has five faculties: the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Faculty of Music and Art and the Faculty of Education and Management.
