Study arrangements		International students study in English according to an individual plan. Latvian language courses are not foreseen in the framework of doctoral studies; however, DU Foreign Language Centre offers Latvian or other language courses.

Study programme description		The aim of the study programme is to give the Doctoral students an opportunity to acquire basic principles of organization and management of studies and research work; to gain internationally approved competence in economics and to get internationally recognized scientific Doctor’s degree. The Doctoral study programme is arranged in a way to ensure independent research followed by new and proved results in the relevant branch of science (“Regional Economics” and “Finances and Crediting”).

Daugavpils University (DU) was founded in 1921 and today is the biggest regional state university and the only university in Eatern-Latvia. DU has five faculties: the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Faculty of Music and Art and the Faculty of Education and Management.
